CYCLES PEUGEOT
So how did I get to know about Peugeot bikes?  I began working at Ted's Bicycle Shop in Endicott. NY during the spring of
1983 which was my junior year of high school.  I continued working there through the spring of 1996 when I moved to Miami,
FL to finish college.  Ted began selling Peugeots in the late 60's and was the only continuous Peugeot dealer in the U.S.
from the late 60's through Peugeots final years in the U.S.

  • Working in a bicycle shop during the early 80's allowed a mechanic to see and work on what we now call 'vintage' bicycles.
These were bikes made before the modern era of indexed shifting, threadless headsets, suspension forks and many other
innovations.  It also allowed me to work with Peugeots first hand during the transition from being traditional French bikes
with French components and threading to French bikes with Japanese, French and Italian components and British
    threading throughout.

  • Another key element to this time period was Peugeots withdrawal from the U.S. market and transition to ProCycle of
Canada as producer of North American Peugeots.  At one point, my employer, Ted's Bicycle Shop, was the only Peugeot
dealer in the U.S.  In fact, he was the only continuous Peugeot dealer in the U.S. from 1969 through Peugeot of France's
final withdrawal from the U.S. market in 1990.

  • This experience allowed me to have hands on experience with one of the worlds most popular and race winning bicycle
    companies.

  • Content from the 'history' section is taken directly from Peugeot of Frances website.  A link can be found in the 'links'
    section.

  • All catalogs scans are owned by myself unless otherwise noted.

  • Pictures of bicycles were used with permission of the owners when possible.
